Hartland Deerfield Fire Authority

Protection is provided from three stations utilizing 2 Engines, 2 Rescue-Engines, 1 Ladder/Aerial, 3 medical/brush fire response units, 1 dedicated medical response unit, 1 dive rescue unit, and 2 dive rescue boats.

Most of the department’s staff is Part-time (Paid on-call) with around 50 personnel. To provide safer firefighter staffing levels during day-time emergencies we have 7 firefighters working shifts Monday through Friday. 4 of those are full-time employees that are firefighter/Emergency Medical Technicians in addition to their administrative tasks. We’ve also increased staffing to have at least 2 personnel immediately available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

For the fastest medical intervention, all apparatus are equipped for emergency medical response. In addition, twelve Automatic External Defibrillators (AED’s) are in use: one on each Engine (4), one on each brush truck (4), One on the Dive Rescue vehicle, and 2 on roving units for rapid response to cardiac emergencies.

We are responsible for fire protection, rescue, and emergency medical response for Hartland and Deerfield Townships. Also providing fire protection by contract to portions of Tyrone Township and the Lake Shannon Association, for a total coverage area over 80 square miles.
